Stern Hatcher has worked in the art, photographic, and video industry for many years. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Visual Arts from Texas Lutheran University and a masters' degree in Art and Technology (ATEC) from UT-Dallas. Stern focused his efforts on making art and photography while teaching. He taught college Art Appreciation and College Photography classes for two Dallas community colleges. While going to UT-Dallas, Stern photographed area gallery shows, took gallery management classes, and was able to show his work. His work hung in The Kitchen Dog Theatre, The Mac, Collin County Community College, Richland College, UT-Dallas, and other venues. He came to Austin 10 years ago and worked as a camera-video specialist and instructor for Precision Camera. Stern joined the Boys and Girls club as a YAI professional practicing teaching artist in 2019. Stern worked as a professional photographer/videographer, a Youth Arts Initiative instructor, and then tried to make a difference as a Boys and Girls Club Director at Webb Middle School. Now, he runs The Paper Plate Gallery, Inc. in North Austin. Stern continuously remains actively promoting new art and photography, running his own photography business, and showing new and established local artists.
